Mazara del Vallo is located in southwestern Sicily, 75 minutes drive from the airport Falcone Borsellino in Palermo (all flights companies) and 25 minutes from Birgi airport in Trapani (RyanAir).
The heart of the city, the harbor channel at the mouth of the Mazara river, where early morning the fishing boats returning from the night catch.
The river divides the city into two parts, the eastern part of the old town where you can find the shopping streets and the promenade with many terraces, and the western part, which includes the district "Tonnarella". The bungalow is in this district, which consists mainly of bungalows and villas.
A few of the many attractions in the area:
The beautiful baroque churches in the city and the towns in the area,
The ancient theater and the Doric temple at Segesta, not to forget the magnificent temples of Selinunte and Agrigento.
Also very worthwhile is the town where the famous Marsala wine comes from. Just past Marsala lies on the coast the famous salt pans, and just off the coast lies the island Mozia, a former Phoenician colony (8th century BC).. The island and the excavations are of course to visit.
The food and wine are delicious and affordable in this region, and the locals are very friendly and helpful.
